Becoming a mother is a time of anticipation and excitement. Unfortunately many women experience bladder and pelvic floor issues, pain and discomfort during pregnancy and motherhood.

INSPIRE Physiotherapy for Women can provide treatment for:

  • back, pelvic, sciatic, hip, groin and coccyx pain
  • headaches
  • neck, shoulder and rib pain
  • wrist/hand pain and numbness (carpel tunnel)
  • bladder leakage (urinary incontinence) and urgency
  • prolapse
  • pain with sex
  • poor abdominal muscle tone and abdominal muscle separation (DRAM)

During motherhood, many breastfeeding women experience blocked ducts and Mastitis.  Physiotherapy treatment (therapeutic ultrasound) and advice is very effective in quickly settling the symptoms of pain and reduced milk flow.  If treated early, often the use of antibiotics can often be avoided.

INSPIRE Pregnancy Exercise classes are designed specifically for women during pregnancy.  The classes consists of a combination of Pilates-informed-exercises, strength and flexibility exercises, and low-impact cardio, designed to strengthen and tone your muscles, with particular focus on the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles. 

There is a maximum of 8 women in each class to enhance your experience.

As all classes are run by experienced physiotherapists, exercises can be modified to suit your level of fitness and specific needs.  Classes run on a weekly basis except for public holidays and over the Christmas/New Year’s break.

Most PHI funds will provide a partial rebate for INSPIRE Pregnancy Exercise Classes.  Please contact your Health Fund to check if you are able to claim a rebate (595-Pregnancy reformer).


TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nervous Stimulation) is a drug free form of pain relief for labour that is safe for both you and your baby. It is small (hand-held), easy to use and gives you the freedom to stay active during your labour.

TENS provides pain relief in labour by:

  • providing a distraction with the comfortable tingling sensation on your back
  • increasing your endorphin levels (your body’s natural pain drug) in your body
  • partially blocking the pain messages to your brain

To learn more about TENS, it is best to make an appointment before or around 37 weeks in your pregnancy.
